Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One(2013)movie review:one of the best movies of the year

Having just witnessed this film in a theatre, I must say that it was truly an adrenaline rush of epic proportions. The length of the movie, which clocks in at just under three hours, was hardly noticeable as it was so jam-packed with thrilling and action-packed sequences that time simply flew by. The sheer lack of down-time in this film is quite remarkable and a testament to the director’s vision and the actors’ performances.

In a refreshing twist on a familiar theme, we are presented with a delightful array of settings such as Airports, Trains, and EVs, with the latter being a tiny Fiat with handcuffs. The challenge of continuing the “Mission: Impossible” franchise is a daunting one, as fans expect each new entry to outdo its predecessor in terms of spectacle and awe-inspiring moments. Nonetheless, Tom Cruise’s performance in the action scenes is truly exceptional, and he also shines in his dramatic and comedic roles.

The stunts in this film are nothing short of incredible and are among the most jaw-dropping ever captured on camera. The story is absolutely exhilarating, and it breathes new life into a veteran movie franchise. With Esai Morales’ charismatic and terrifying Gabriel and Pom Klementieff’s exceptional portrayal of a henchman with few words, this franchise finally has more good villains than bad. Moreover, the return of Henry Czerny as Kittridge is truly glorious, and he remains as gleefully despicable as ever.

There are plenty of funny and sincere moments scattered throughout the film, as well as plenty of scenes featuring Ethan running, as per his contractual obligation. The final scene on the train is truly excellent, with so much happening that it will leave you breathless. There are plenty of good set-pieces throughout, including a thrilling car chase. However, the pièce de résistance is the motorbike off the cliff into a BASE jump, which is truly something else. The fact that Cruise did it for real, multiple times, is nothing short of crazy and inspiring.

In conclusion, I must say that Tom Cruise has once again delivered one of the best movies of the year, and I cannot recommend it enough. The plot is fascinating, the characters are amazing, and the action sequences are top-notch. This movie is definitely worth your time and money, and it matches or exceeds expectations. It is, without a doubt, one of the best, if not the best, entry in the franchise. If possible, do see it in IMAX, but a normal theatre viewing will work just as well.
