Insidious: The Red Door(2023)movie review:go see it, it’s not perfect but it’s not bad either

Insidious: The Red Door (2023)” signifies Patrick Wilson’s first foray into directing, delivering a solid effort, albeit not a groundbreaking one. The film’s pacing tends to be on the slower side, and its content is not particularly refreshing. The absence of novel elements or captivating sequences leaves the audience wanting more.

Though the movie does contain a few jump scares, they don’t quite stir up excitement. The plot feels rather stale and familiar, echoing the trajectory of previous installments in the Insidious series.

Centered around a father-son duo attempting to unravel a mysterious conflict, the film’s cast performs adequately considering the somewhat lackluster script. Patrick Wilson’s directorial skills are competent, but they don’t quite distinguish him from his peers. The horror elements largely consist of predictable jump scares and loud noises, with one notable exception being an intriguing MRI scene. To fully appreciate the film, it’s important to be familiar with the first two entries in the franchise. Those who need a refresher can find recap videos on YouTube.

While the first two movies balanced horror with storytelling, “Insidious: The Red Door(2023)” leans more heavily into the horror aspect. Longtime fans of the franchise are sure to enjoy this latest installment, but casual moviegoers might not find it as appealing.
